An example of custom wine barrel branding for a winery

Wine barrels. These hardy, versatile on-trend vestibules for wine are also an often-missed branding opportunity for any winery.

People LOVE wine barrels. Cafes, Bars & Mancaves alike are using them to rest a glass on and graze.

Magnum Signs are experts at wine barrel art.

Whether it’s a bespoke custom design for one barrel in a man cave or a branding opportunity for your winery, we can help.

This barrel was varnished and the design was hand painted by our master sign writer Lyndsey. Lyndsey is rather adept at painting and an artist in his own right.

After creating a beautiful custom design as per your requirements, we will either bring out the natural colours in the oak or stain it to your preferred finish.

The design is then hand painted onto the barrel if it’s a one off or we will utilise one of our many signwriting techniques to replicate the design if there are multiples.

How to Protect Your Wine Barrel

To protect a unvarnished barrel regularly use either a oil finish. The oil soaks into the wood and protects it from the inside. You’ll know when this needs to be done as the either the wood will turn gray, the water will stop beading on the barrel surface or the wood feels rough and dry to touch then it is time to apply a few coats.

This could be a linseed, teak or hemp oil. We will advise you of the colour after we have painted your barrel for you. You’ll need to apply a few coats of oil.

Location will play a part in maintaining the finish of the wine barrel. You want to ensure it is out of the elements as much as possible. Particularly sunlight. If you are placing them outdoors keep them off lawned areas that get irrigated regularly where the ground underneath cannot dry.
